The MET was founded in 2012 with the intention of becoming a reference in the equestrian world, not only within Spain, but also on an international level. The first edition of the MET was a great success with more than 800 horses and about 5,000 people directly related with the equestrian world, passing through the facilities of the Equestrian Centre, Oliva Nova.
The exceptional climate on the Spanish Mediterranean Coast during February through to April, as well as excellent communications and infrastructure, convert the Levante area into the perfect location to host competitions.
In the course of the year there are two well defined seasons, winter and summer. The winter season lasts from November until the end of April and the summer season from May until the end of October. During the winter season, due the climatic condition, the horses are prepared, trained and compete in indoor arenas. While this is very attractive as a competition, it's not the best way to prepare the horses for the summer season, when the really important events take place.
The world's best riders gather in the Equestrian Centre, Oliva Nova during eight weeks of competition this year, participating in an intense schedule of international Show Jumping Competitions.
Riders from France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey & U.S.A will participate in the MET 2014. Approximately 350 male and female riders from 44 countries and more than 2,000 horses from the best stables all over the world.
